The elegant, finely restored rooms pay homage to Marietta Barovier, a pioneer of glass art, the sophisticated literary icon Giustina Renier Michielin, William Shakespeare’s famous character Portia, and the empress Theodora, wife and witty advisor to Justinian – all charismatic and extremely intelligent personalities who revolutionized the role of women in the societies of their time.
Furnishings and decorative style are exquisite and rich, loosely inspired by Byzantine art and the refined elements of Moorish architecture: a triumph of gold, glass mosaic work, rare marble, exquisite silk threads, and exotic ogival windows adorned with mashrabiyas featuring carved wood latticework.
These one or two level apartments all overlook the pleasant stillness of the inner courtyard and are comfortable and functional, with innovative home automation systems.
As in the most authentic historic Venetian residences, the building does not feature a lift, and the apartments are accessed via the internal staircase.

From the quayside in front of the Santa Lucia railway station take the Line 1 waterbus in the direction of Rialto / San Marco / Lido and get off at San Stae (third stop).
BY CAR
The apartments cannot be reached directly by car but parking spaces and garages (to be reserved in advance) are available in the Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto areas.
From the Piazzale Roma pier take the waters Line 1 waterbus towards Rialto / San Marco / Lido and get off at San Stae (fourth stop).
From the Tronchetto pier take the Line 2 waterbus towards Piazzale Roma / Ferrovia, get off at the Piazzale Roma stop and from here take the Line 1 waterbus towards Rialto / San Marco / Lido to the San Stae stop (fourth stop).
BY PLANE
Take the Orange Line of the ALILAGUNA service and get off at the San Stae stop, just a 2-minute walk from the apartments.
FROM THE PORT
From the pier of the San Basilio Cruise Terminal take the Line 2 waterbus in the direction of Piazzale Roma/Ferrovia, get off at the Piazzale Roma stop and from here take the Line 1 waterbus in the direction of Rialto / San Marco / Lido to the San Stae stop (fourth stop).

Reaching Empress Theodora Apartments is part of the enchanting Venetian experience. To make your arrival as pleasant and comfortable as possible, we are pleased to offer several ways to reach the property.
From Marco Polo Airport (VCE), we recommend contacting us to arrange a private water taxi. It is the most evocative and direct option, as well as the ideal way to experience Venice from the very first moment and arrive directly at Palazzo Venart’s private water entrance on the Grand Canal. The journey takes approximately 25–30 minutes, depending on water traffic conditions.
Alternatively, you may take the Alilaguna service from the airport to the San Stae stop and then continue on foot (the entrance is approximately 100 m away).
For guests arriving from Venezia Santa Lucia Station or Piazzale Roma, the most convenient option is a private water taxi that will take you to Palazzo Venart’s private water entrance. The journey takes about 8–10 minutes and offers a first captivating glimpse of Venice from its canals.
Alternatively, you may take the vaporetto from the Ferrovia or Piazzale Roma stop and get off at San Stae, which is 100 m from the property.
Guests may access the apartments from 3:00 pm; on the day of departure, the apartment must be vacated by 12:00 noon.
You may request availability for check-in before 3:00 pm or check-out after 12:00 noon, both when booking and during your stay. All requests are subject to availability. An additional charge may apply.
The property offers luggage storage for arriving and departing guests. The service is free of charge for all guests.
The property does not have parking. For guests arriving in Venice by car, the nearest private paid car parks are at Piazzale Roma (the last point in Venice accessible by car).
