Detailed Information on the Use of Cookies and Consent to Their Use

Definitions
Cookies are small text fragments (letters and/or numbers) that allow the web server to store information regarding the client (the browser) to be re-used during that visit to the site (session cookies) or thereafter, even days later (persistent cookies). Based on the user’s preferences, the cookies are stored by the individual browser on the specific device used (computer, tablet, smartphone). Similar technologies can be used to collect information on the user’s behavior and their use of the services.

Below in this document we will refer to cookies and all similar technologies as simply “cookies.”

Types of cookies
There are various categories of cookies, depending on their characteristics and use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies. These are cookies that are indispensable for proper functioning of our site and are used to manage login and access to the site’s reserved functions, in general to speed up, improve or personalize the level of service for users. The duration of cookies is either strictly limited to the work session (they are deleted when the browser is closed), or longer, aimed at recognizing the visitor’s computer. Their deactivation could jeopardize use of the services accessible after login, while the public part of the site can be used as normal.
  • Analysis and performance cookies. These cookies are used to collect and analyze traffic and utilize the site anonymously. While these cookies do not identify the user, they make it possible, for example, to determine whether the same user returns to connect at different times. They also make it possible to monitor the system and improve performance and usability. These cookies can be deactivated without losing any functionality.
  • Profiling cookies. These are permanent cookies used to identify (anonymously or not) the user’s preferences and improve their browsing experience, in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences they indicate while browsing the net.

Third party cookies
When we visit a website, we may receive cookies from both the site visited (“proprietary”), and from sites managed by other organizations (“third parties”). An example is the presence of “social plugins” (such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+) aimed at sharing content on social networks. The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. Management of information collected by “third parties” is governed by the relative disclosures, to which you should refer.

Managing cookies
The user may decide whether or not to accept the cookies, using their browser settings.
Attention: total or partial disabling of technical cookies could jeopardize use of the site functionalities reserved for registered users. On the contrary, public content may be used even if cookies are completely disabled.
Disabling “third party” cookies has no effect on browsing. The setting can be selected for different sites and web applications. In addition, the best browsers make it possible to select different settings for “proprietary” cookies and “third party” cookies.
For example, on Google Chrome, click the wrench icon at the top right corner and select “Settings.” Select “Show advanced settings” and change the Privacy settings.

Which cookies are managed by the site

Some information, even if not collected for purposes of associating it with identified parties, by its nature could make it possible to identify the user through processing or association.
This category includes the IP addresses of the computers utilized by users who connect to the Site, the URL of the requested resources, the time of the request, the size of the file obtained in response, etc.
These data are used to:
1) obtain anonymous statistical information on use of the Site (such as the number of accesses), control its proper functioning, and speed up, improve or personalize the level of service to users, and are deleted immediately after processing.
2) profile the customer for marketing activities, through management of third party cookies.

In both cases, the provision of information is optional; refusal to provide these data or blocking of cookies or other software components could make it impossible for us to send the information requested and/or impair functioning of the site.
The data collected will be processed exclusively by the assigned company personnel and will not be transferred or communicated to others.
The data could be used to determine liability in case of hypothetical cybercrimes committed against the Site or third parties: except for this eventuality, at the present time, data on web contacts are not stored permanently.
